Why R?
R was specially designed for the analysis of data. Some of the reasons to use R can be found in ”Why Use the R Language?”
In particular, R is an excellent antidote for spreadsheet addiction.
Installing R
Although the number of clicks to download R could be reduced, it is generally straightforward to download R and get it running on a machine.
The steps are:
- Go to the main R website: http://www.r-project.org
- Click on the CRAN button on the left side.
- Select a mirror near you from the menu that is offered.
- Select which type of machine you have (Linux, MacOS X, Windows).
If you have any problems, you can consult the R Installation and Adminstration guide.
